3rd Content-based Materials

                      

I have designed a learning activity using PowerPoint. My lesson topic is on weather. I have designed this for Class four Students under Social Studies Subject. I have used different shapes to draw tree, rain, sun and snow to make it attractive and comprehensible for the students. I have also downloaded few images from the internet to bring the varieties in the lesson. I have also used different animation which made the rain and snow to fall, sun to rise, birds to fly and clouds to appear. Moreover, I have used different sounds to make it more realistic. 

How will I use this in the lesson?

The pictures here seems easy for the class Four students but I am going to use that just to introduce the topic weather and let them carry the task related to weather which is shown below. 

Instructions to carry out the activity 

1. Teacher will show the PowerPoint presentation to the students. 
2. Let the students observe it carefully.
3. Then, divide them into four groups. 
4. Teacher will provide the topic like Sunny Day, Rainy day, Snowy Day and Cloudy day.
5. Ask the students to describe about the weather by looking at the PowerPoint presentation. 
6. Let each group write a paragraph under their topic. 
7. Finally let them share to the whole class. 

So, through this presentation the students will not only enjoy about the weather but also learn about the weather. This presentation will serve as a materials which will make the students go beyond their thinking. The whole explanation is not provided in the presentation whereby the pictures depicted there will stimulate in their comprehending the knowledge on weather. 

2nd Content-based Materials

 Materials used in creating content based materials

I have come up with the lesson topic called fraction for class II.  In order to introduce fractions I used shapes like circle, crescent, rectangle and triangle to draw Pizza and donuts. I chose Donuts and pizza to introduce fractions because I thought that children will get excited to learn when they are shown with real pictures though it is created from shape. Similarly, I used different form of lines to draw the inner circle of donuts and pizza to make it more realistic and text to write the topics to the students.  In addition, animation was used to make the information come into live and colors to make it more attractive and realistic.  

Instruction for Content based materials

The materials that I have developed based on Fractions will be used as an information input for the students.

1.     First I will take the students to the ICT lab.

2.     Then, I will project the PowerPoint slide to the students.

3.     Tell them that we are going to learn about fractions.

4.     Then, ask them to observe and listen carefully.

5.     Tell them that they would be asked questions after finishing watching and listening to the slide.

After finishing with the information input, I will ask the students if they have doubt and explain it in more comprehensible way using the slide if they didn’t understand the concepts well.

With the help of PowerPoint Presentation,

It will help in catering the different learning styles of the students. It consist of Visual pictures like donuts, pizza and Text to introduce the fraction and representation of fraction. Moreover, the presentation is backed with the audio of the teacher with the explanation about the fractions which will replace the traditional lectures which usually happen in the class. So, catering the different learning styles will impact a lot in every single individual in the class.
